MOTION: Councillor T. Ridge
That this Area Committee calls on the Manager to instruct the owner of the semi-derelict cottages at the entrance to St. Brigid's Lane to restore or demolish same (access from slip road at the Naas Road, Clondalkin).
REPORT:
The property and site at 1 St Brigids Cottages, Naas Road, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 was inspected by the Area Engineer on the 10th of January, 2011 and is considered to be a derelict site within the definition contained in Section 3 of the Derelict Sites Act, 1990. A Section 11 Notice has been issued to the registered owner requesting the following works be completed in order to render the site non derelict:
· Secure building
· Replace hoarding and paint

On expiry of this notice, the site will be re-inspected and if all the works outlined in the Notice have not been completed satisfactorily by that date, this site may be placed on the Derelict Sites Register and an annual levy applied.
This property was also referred to the Dangerous Structures Section of the Architectural Services Department who carried out an inspection and have sent a letter to the registered owners asking them to carry out the following works:
· Secure all openings at 1 & 3 St Bridgids Cottages
· Reinstate all loose roof tiles on both properties
· Remove the damaged/defective hoarding and railings from the boundary wall of 1 St Bridgids Cottages and secure the boundary as necessary.
Following an inspection it was found that none of these works have been carried out and a Notice is to be served week under the Local Government (Sanitary Services) Act, requiring that work be carried out within the next month.
