That the Manager would present an updated report on the Part 8 process for the construction of a Parks Depot in Griffeen Valley Park.

REPORT:

A report was brought before the Elected Members, at the Council Meeting held on the 13th December 2010, recommending that the Council commence a Part 8 public consultation process for the construction of a new park depot, sports pavilion and park visitor reception area in Griffeen Valley Park. This proposal arose from the proposed disposal of the site of the existing park depot, located at Esker Lane, to the Department of Education for the construction of a new primary school in the Esker area.

Following discussion at the Meeting, it was agreed by the Members to dispose of the existing park depot site at Esker Lane and to commence the Part 8 public consultation process for the proposed new park depot and associated facilities in Griffeen Valley Park. Arising from the discussion in relation to the proposal for the Part 8 process, it was also agreed that more detailed plans and drawings of the proposed new park depot, sports pavilion and park visitor reception area would be prepared for the public display process.  

This work is underway and it is expected that the plans and drawings will be ready by mid February 2011 at which time the Part 8 proposal will be advertised and the details of the proposal will be put on public display.
