SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

MOTION NO. 8
MOTION: Councillor T. Ridge
That this Area Committee request the Manager to seek a meeting with the Minister for Justice regarding the need to assign Gardaí on a continuous and permanent basis in the specific areas where tenants are harassed and assaulted by other tenants within residential developments in the Clondalkin area to the extent of living in fear and afraid to complain to the Council or the Gardaí.
REPORT:
If this motion is passed it will be brought before the next meeting of the Joint Policing Committee for discussion.
The Council's Anti Social Behaviour Strategy for the period 2010 to 2014 was adopted by the Council at the November meeting of the Council and is now being implemented in addressing all complaints of anti social behaviour received by the Council. The Council relies heavily on the support of the Gardai and other agencies in this regard and works closely with other bodies to achieve the optimum results. However the Council has no function in relation to operational matters which are under the control of the Garda Commissioner.
