MOTION: Councillor T. Gilligan

That this Committee agrees to install a proper island (not a ghost island) at the T-junction at the entrance to Floraville Estate as recommended by the Road's Department at their meeting with residents a few weeks ago.

REPORT:

The proposed ghost traffic island is not located at the entrance to Floraville Estate but rather at the 2nd T-Junction on Floraville Avenue near the pedestrian entrance to the school. It is the Council's intention to provide a ghost Island at this location with additional signage to advise drivers to slow down. This was the recommendation of the Road's Department and there was no agreement with residents as described. There has been correspondence with one resident in regard to this matter only and all of the members have been informed of the reply issued. It is proposed to carry out this work as soon as practicable as a more cost effective solution to the matter raised.
