MOTION: Councillor E. Coburn
"That this Committee agrees to provide guidelines to Resident Associations and interested parties with regard to the clearing, gritting and salting of Residential estates, footpaths and other public routes in order to assist in the practical movement of people and vehicles during difficult weather conditions."
REPORT:
The Council welcomes the voluntary effort proposed by Resident Associations and encourages other individuals to assist in the clearing of footpaths and estate roads.While the Council cannot assist or deploy its fleet, it is open to organizations to hire such equipment from the private sector. Obviously any hiring or use of equipment should be in strict compliance with Health & Safety and appropriate Public & Employer Liability Insurance and any machines used on either footpaths or roads should not damage the core fabric of the surface.
