QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane
"To ask the Manager for an update on my request to have increased signage/traffic calming measures implemented adjacent to Whitechurch National School and to have the metal barrier adjacent extended for safety reasons?"
REPLY:
The Whitechurch National School is at the end of a short cul-de-sac off Whitechurch Road. On approach road markings and substantial signs are provided for traffic on the narrow road as forward visibility is limited. A footpath is provided on the school side of Whitechurch Road and the hazard of children running out a gate onto the road does not occur with the configuration of the school entrance. A risk associated with children emerging between parked cars may be present but is beyond the scope of barrier provision but is alerted to approaching drivers by the school signs.
