QUESTION: Councillor R. Dowds
To ask the Manager to make a statement on County Council parking fines.
(a) How much has been collected since they were introduced?
(b) What is done with the money collected?
REPLY:
(a) In 2010 up to the end of November 2010 receipts from fines amounted to €170,156.
(b) The income from Pay and Display parking forms part of the overall Roads Department revenue and is primarily used to install, renew and maintain all the equipment required to run the system, and to meet the cost of an appropriate level of enforcement by the contractors employed for that purpose.
