QUESTION NO. 10

QUESTION: Councillor C. King

To ask the Manager to ensure that internal cemetery roads and paths are gritted sufficiently to ensure safe access for mourners, as this was not the case weekend 26th-28th/Nov/2010 where hearses and family cars were stuck in snow and ice significant distances from relevant gravesides?

REPLY:

The Council staff is monitoring the graveyards so as to provide safe passage for mourners .

The gritting crews are on standby in case of access problems for the vehicles entering the cemeteries and this has been availed of.

Pedestrians are advised to take extreme care as frequent and heavy snow showers are impacting on visibility and walking conditions.
