MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That the Manager outline when the new parking facility and dressing rooms will open at Knocklyon Park and what measures will the Manager take to prevent illegal parking on park land adjacent to Woodstown Park."

REPORT:

The Council is informed that the Clubhouse and car park for Ballyboden GAA at this location are now open. 

In relation to the illegal parking of vehicles during a recent event on the open space area adjacent to Woodstown Park, the Council has been in contact with Ballyboden GAA club and has indicated that such parking is illegal and detrimental to the enjoyment of the open space by the residents and that it will not be tolerated in the future.  The Club is also disappointed that a section of the attendance at the event did park in this manner but it is the Council’s view that if events of this nature are organised in the future that it is the responsibility of the Club to manage them in a proper manner so that disturbance to local residents does not arise or, where unavoidable, is minimised to the greatest extent possible.
