QUESTION NO. 15
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to outline all measures being pursued, including traffic light co-ordination and re-sequencing, installation of new road markings etc, in an effort to tackle the serious traffic tailbacks on Newcastle Road in Lucan?
REPLY:
It should be noted that a certain amount of traffic congestion is to be expected in the urban environment and every effort is made to keep this to a minimum. This involves the modifications / adjustments mentioned. However an adjustment made at one location can have a detrimental effect elsewhere on the network. The Newcastle Road (R120) is a major road artery for the development of the County and traffic movements at this location are under constant review.
