SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 5
QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy
To ask the Manager if he will consider, and investigate, the possibility of the Council renting land from the owners of the Clonburris and Adamstown SDZ, in view of the probability that substantial proportions of these lands are likely to remain undeveloped during the next 5 years, for the purpose of providing allotments, under short lease terms, to persons from Lucan and Palmerstown on the Council's waiting list for allotments?
REPLY:
In light of costs associated with the development of new allotment sites i.e. access road, boundary fencing, fencing of individual plots, water supply, secure gates, paths, storage facilities, it is not possible within existing Council financial resources to fund such a temporary scheme.
The Park's Department has been requested to examine the Council's recreational landholding with a view to identifying sites for future permanent allotment facilities.
