QUESTION NO.17

QUESTION: Councillor T. Ridge

To ask the Manager for safety guidelines regarding access to fire hydrants in residential areas in view of blocking of same by vehicle owners who park blocking hydrants?

REPLY:

Fire hydrants are usually located on footpaths and the parking of cars on footpaths is not permitted.  Where vehicles prohibit or obstruct access to hydrants in an emergency situation, these vehicles are removed by the emergency services.  Any instances of such obstructions should be notified to the Council and/or the Gardai.
