Minutes of Environment SPC meeting held on 20th September 2010.

Matters Arising

v      Waste Bye-Laws not put on public display as of yet as formal agreement on outstanding refuse issueshas yet to be agreed

v      Dublin Waste Region Executive submission on Draft National Waste Policyto becirculated to the members.

 Item 3

Litter Fines and Enforcement - Discussion on Level of Enforcement and Collection Rates

A PowerPoint presentation on the Level of Enforcement and Collection Rates was presented Mr J Quinlivan, Senior Executive Officer. Following contributions from the SPC membersMr Quinlivan responded to the issues raised by the members.

Based on queries from the members, Mr Quinlivan said that the Litter Enforcement section from the Waste Management Plan would be circulated to the committee.

In addition it was agreed that a letter would be written to the Courts on behalf of the SPC to bring to their attention the discrepancy between the amounts of monies awarded and collected in relation to fines.

Item 4

Forestry

Conor Devan from Coillte and Karen Woods from the Dublin Mountain partnership were present. A PowerPoint presentation on forestry in the Wicklow & South Dublin Region was presented by Conor Devan, Coillte. Following contributions from the SPC members Mr Devan and Ms Woods responded to the issues raised by the members.

CFRAMS (Catchment Flood Risk And Assessment Management) in South Dublin

Mark Adamson from the OPW was present. A PowerPoint presentation on CFRAMS was presented by Mark Adamson,OPW. Following contributions from the SPC members Mr Adamson responded to the issues raised by the members.
