QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn
"To ask the Manager to review the safety signage and safety measure along the Knocklyon Road from the Firhouse Road / Lansdowne Estate to the traffic lights at the Superquinn junction?"
REPLY:
This location was previously examined and the provision of speed limit repeater signs and the installation of “SLOW” markings on Knocklyon Road in the vicinity of Lansdowne Park were recommended. These measures are on the work list. The issue of speeding on this road has previously been referred to the Gardai. The Gardai confirmed that they have deployed resources to the area in an attempt to detect offenders and deter others from engaging in such activity. The Council has applied to the NRA for funding under Low Cost Safety measures for 2011 for traffic calming measures on Knocklyon Road in the vicinity of Lansdowne Park. The committee will be notified of any developments in this regard.
