QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to provide a detailed update on the roll-out of both the council's Work Placement Programme and apprentice training scheme and and to outline what council work areas are to benefit from these programmes?
REPLY:
The Council have offered 8 work placements under the FAS Work Placement Programme in the following areas:
Library Local History Research
Library Digitisation of Material
CCTV Monitoring
Energy Management Researcher
Sports Programme Manager
Sports Research post
All of these placements have been advertised on the FAS Website and Local Offices and CV's are being sent directly to the Human Resources Department.FAS have been notified this week that a sufficient number of CV's have been submitted for the posts of Energy Management Researcher, CCTV Monitor and Sports Programme Manager. Shortlisting and Interviews will commence next week for these posts with a view to the commencing the placements immediately thereafter.
Specifications for a further 6 placement opportunities under this programme are being finalised and will be advertised shortly.
In addition the Council are ready to proceed with 12 placements under the Redundant Apprentice Scheme in a number of diciplines, e.g. Plumbing, Painting, Carpentry, Mechanic, Stone Mason, Plastering and are awaiting CV's from FAS. Contact has been made on a number of ocassions to progress this matter and it is expected that the CV's will arrive early next week. The Council will proceed without delay to select candidates and commence placements.
