QUESTION NO. 20

QUESTION: Councillor E. Tuffy

To ask the Manager if the Council supports, in any way, the installation of Christmas lights? Would the Council would be supportive of an initiative by local businesses in Lucan to put Christmas lights on the trees on the public footpaths around the Village Green in Lucan?

REPLY:

There is a dedicated supply available for Christmas tree lighting in the Village Green. This is used to light the large Christmas tree erected by Park's Department every year and to festoon the nearby mature trees within the park. However it is unsuitable to supply lighting for the trees on the footpath due to the difficulty of getting a safe electrical connection from this supply box across the river.
