QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor G. Kenny
Can the Manager access the feasibility of installing rumble strips on the lower side of Neilstown Bridge? This would alert cars that there is a busy junction nearby.
REPLY:
Rumble strips by their nature make irritating noise when cars travel over them. As there are houses nearby and the high volumes of traffic which travel on Lucan-Newlands Road, such measures would cause inconvenience to the nearby residents. Accordingly, the provision of rumble strips at this location is not recommended. The Council will examine the provision of additional signage and other safety measures that may be employed subject to availability of resources in 2011.
