MOTION: Councillor C. Jones

That the Manager will give details about the extent of the post Halloween clean-up in the Lucan area.

REPORT:

The Bulbs not Bonfires campaign was successful throughout the County with a 35% reduction  in the number of bonfires countywide. There were 114 bonfires recorded in the Lucan area in 2010.  This figure is down from 142 recorded bonfires in 2009.  This represents a 20% reduction.   All of the bonfires in the area were cleaned up within 2 working weeks. 

6 estates in the area applied for the "bulbs not bonfires" scheme and arrangements are now underway to distribute the bulbs to these estates.
