MOTION NO. 17

MOTION: Councillor R. Dowds

That the Manager provides a report on plans to upgrade the N81 through our County as it affects the Clondalkin Electoral Area, and the timescales and the works involved.

REPORT:

Members will be aware of the current status of the N81 Scheme and that the proposed Scheme extends from Fortunestown, Tallaght to Hollywood, Co Wicklow.

- The Kildare NRDO are currently carrying out the Environmental, Economic and Engineering Assessment of all of the route options

- This should lead to a draft route selection report by the end of 2010

- The KNRDO would hope to have further public consultation sessions following this in the first quarter of 2011 with a final Route Selection Report in the 2nd quarter of 2011.

It will then be necessary to prepare an EIS on the preferred route and submit same to An Bord Pleanála for adjudication. This is unlikely to occur before the end of 2012 at the earliest and will then be subject to funding being made available.
