QUESTION NO.11
QUESTION: Councillor W. Lavelle
To ask the Manager to update on efforts to progress the taking-in-charge of Griffeen Glen Courtyard and Boulevard and in particular to advise on:
REPLY:
In respect of the open space, the Council has been in dialogue with the developer, Newlyn Developments Ltd, about the taking in charge of the open space and in order for this to proceed official maps and documentation from the developer’s solicitor has been sought.
In respect of Griffeen Glen Boulevard, the developer has submitted as constructed drawings. A list of minor works mainly relating to footpaths, has been issued to the developer in order to complete same. Drainage is satisfactorily completed however there is a minor leak at a hydrant that needs to be attended to.
SDCC is currently reviewing all CCTV of underground drainage networks as part of the taking in charge process. It would be inappropriate to estimate the cost of repairs, if any, at this stage. When known it is likely that a claim on the bond for any defects will be taken.
An initial claim on the bond for the development in relation to identified defects (which includes the leaking hydrant) is being prepared and the Council is also meeting the institution which issued the bond for the development next week and hopes that following this it may have more clarity over plans to complete defects and in turn a possible target taking in charge date.
