QUESTION NO. 19
QUESTION: Councillor B. Lawlor
To ask the Manager, to outline the Council’s Cleansing plan that is implemented in the area surrounding Tallaght stadium following major sporting and entertainment events.
And if the provision of temporary bins could be used when such events are taking place?
(To be circulated)
REPLY: Most of the events staged at Tallaght Stadium take place at the weekend, most often on a Friday evening. While there have been quite a number of major events over the 20 months that the stadium has been open, there does not appear to have been a cleansing problem in the immediate area surrounding the stadium. The absence of complaints recorded on the Customer Care system would seem to confirm that cleansing has not been an issue.
The licence signed by Shamrock Rovers requires the club to make an annual contribution towards the cost of providing a cleansing service for the areas adjacent to the Stadium. They are responsible for cleansing within the curtilage of the stadium after games as are event operators who also acquire use of the facility. The Council will continue to monitor the situation and if any cleansing issue should arise, it will be addressed as apprporiate.
