MOTION NO. 18

MOTION: Councillor T. Delaney

That the Manager would address with a permanent proposal the ongoing problems with dumping at the old illegal traveller encampment on the Cloverhill Road between Palmerstown Woods and the M50 Bridge.

REPORT:

The local Litter Warden has inspected the area of Cloverhill Road concerned and reports that there was some minor dumping there, comprising two black bags which were listed for removal by the Cleansing Section.  Mounds of earth have been put in place to previous access to the site but there are some intermittent problems with dumping from passing cars there.  The nearby green space between Palmerstown Woods and Collinstown Grove (near the electricity pylon) has been subject to more substantial dumping recently but the Warden has inspected material dumped there and found sufficient evidence to support a number of litter fines.  The Warden will continue to monitor this location and such enforcement action should help to deter potential reoffending at this location.
