QUESTION NO. 9

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager to carry out a survey on housing in *Address Supplied:  in order to ascertain the number of vacant houses that can be considered derelict under the Derelict Sites Act and to present a report back to this Commitee on action being taken in each case?"

REPLY:

Three houses in *Address Supplied*were reported to the Council by local residents as  being allegedly derelict.  The Councils Area Engineer was instructed to carry out inspections of each under the Derelict Sites Act, 1990.  The house at 1 *Address Supplied* Drive, was deemed to be derelict and a Section 11 Notice was issued to the registered owner outlining works to be completed in order to render the property non derelict.  Some works have been completed on this property, however, discussions are ongoing with the owners legal representative to try resolve this matter.

The house at 16*Address Supplied* Drive, was inspected by the Area Engineer in 2009 and was also deemed to be derelict.  A Section 11 Notice was issued which was fully complied with by the registered owner of the house and therefore in October, 2009 this house was deemed to be non derelict.  No further complaints have been received in relation to this property. 

The house at 51 *Address Supplied* Drive, was also inspected by the Area Engineer in October 2009, and was deemed to be non derelict, however, it was recommended to write to the registered owner asking him to carry out a general tidy up of the house in order to prevent it from becoming derelict in the future.  Again no further complaints have been received in relation to this property.
