MOTION NO. 2

MOTION: Councillor S. Crowe

This Council Committee calls on the Manager to give this Committee a report in view of the many unfinished and half built appartments in this  area  outlining what discusssions if any his/her Department has had with the Developers in relation to these matters and if these buildings have a finite period to be built before being declared derelict.

REPORT:

There are three apartment schemes in Tallaght at various stages of construction. These are New Bancroft in Tallaght Village (150), the Respond Housing Association in Tallaght Town Centre on the Cookstown Way(154), and the John Crowe development on the Cookstown Road in Springfield (40). 

The Council is in discussion with the developer of the New Bancroft and the Respond Development is for a housing association that is proceeding to completion. 

The buildings do have a finite period in which to be built which relates to the date of the grant of permission.
