MOTION: Councillor S. Crowe

This Council Committee calls on the Manager to give a report in relation to the pruning of the huge trees on some of the roads in Elmcastle Estate area of Kilnamanagh and particularly ones on Elmcastle Green  that have been requested to be pruned by residents for a number of years.

REPORT:

In preparing the 2009/2010 Arboricultural Programme, priority was given to tree pruning and removal on an estate by estate basis rather than on an individual tree basis. While this new approach proved to be efficient and effective in making best use of the available resources, it did mean that some areas had to be prioritised over others.  It is intended to use the same approach again this year.  Elmcastle estate is not included on the list of priority estates that are being considered for inclusion as part of the forthcoming 2010/2011 Arboricultural Programme and which will be presented to the Elected Members in November.
