MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

Tuesday, October 12, 2010

MOTION NO. 14

MOTION: Councillor E. Coburn

"That this Committee discusses with the aid of a report from the manager why signage poles erected in March 2010 (without legends) along the Firhouse Road have now been dug up (during week of 20 Sept) as part of the current QBC road widening and to explain why these two projects were not co-ordinated. In addition that the Manager detail what signage is now planned on each of the sections of the Firhouse road from Ballyroan road through to Ballycullen Road."

REPORT:

The signs form part of the Regional Road Signage Programme which was commenced in October 2009. Work was being carried out by a Contractor when objections to the locations of some of the signs were received from the public and councillors and a review of the signage was undertaken. This delayed the Contractor and the contract was terminated.

All sign faces still to be placed to complete the works are stored in the Depot, and the remaining works will be carried out by Direct Labour. The signs still to be completed along the Firhouse Road R114 between Ballyroan Road and Ballycullen Road will be completed once the contract for the Firhouse/Ballycullen QBC is completed.

The drawings showing the planned signage are attached.
