COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE

QUESTION NO. 2
QUESTION: Councillor C. Keane
"To ask the Manager for an up to date follow up report on Cherryfield residential caravan site - and on surrounding parkland area - what work has been carried out since this was discussed at last Rathfarnham area meeting, also has the application for vacant house on said site been processed?"
REPLY:
As stated in report to June Meeting additional CCTV is being installed to allow better and closer surveillance in respect of littering and other anti social activity at this location. Unfortunately there were delays in respect of this installation but it is now operative. Another clean up will take place in the near future and the residents will be invited for interview explaining the purpose of the CCTV and reminding them of their obligations under their Licence Agreements. The CCTV will be monitored in house by staff
Discussions are ongoing with the Tallaght Traveller Development Group with a view to putting in place an initiative on dumping and littering adjacent to Traveller sites. It has been suggested that the initiative might look at the impacts on the health, safety and acceptance of the Travellers adjoining such sites where dumping takes place. It should also take account of the positives of how well the sites themselves are generally maintained.
The vacant bay in the development, which was occupied illegally by members of one of the existing tenant’s family, has now been reallocated.
