"An gcuirfeadh an Chomhairle tuilleadh suíochán i bPáirc Bhaile an Mhóta/Chrois an Fhearainn Nua?"

("Would the Council Place further seating in the Ballymount/Newlands Cross Park?")

REPLY:

The following reply was issued in response to a question tabled at the September 2009 Tallaght Area Meeting;

'A number of park benches were provided in Ballymount Park in the vicinity of the ornamental pond when the park was originally developed. Unfortunately, where park benches have been provided, they have become focal points for loitering by gangs of youths and locations of anti-social behaviour.  The provision of additional seating in the park would therefore have to be considered very carefully in the context of the problems which have arisen in relation to the existing seating. Staff of the Parks Department are available to meet with local residents to discuss this matter further.'

The Parks Department remains concerned that the provision of additional seating in Ballymount Park may unfortunately give rise to increased levels of anti-social activity and the seats may end up being vandalised. However, as previously stated, staff of the Parks Department are available to meet with local residents / interested parties to discuss the matter further.

Ach mar atá ráite cheana fhéin, tá an foireann sásta buailleadh le muintir na háite chun an cheist a phlé.
