HEADED ITEM NO. 5

HEADED ITEM: R. Department

Footpath Repairs and Remedial Work in relation to the Water Mains Programme.

REPLY:

The Dublin Regional Watermain Rehabilitation Project has been established to assist in reducing leakage by identifying and replacing old watermains that have outlived their usefulness. Funding has been provided by the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government and tenders have been invited. It is anticipated that works will commence in the Greenhills area of South Dublin in early 2011.

While a significant element of the works involve “trenchless” technology, pipe lining and pipe insertion, the works will entail removal of existing sections of footpath in places to access the old mains and to provide connections between the new main and local residences. Footpaths will be replaced at all locations where excavations have been carried out. The roads on which works will be carried out are St Columbas Road, St Killians Ave, St Bridgets Drive, St James Road , St Brendans Crescent, St Anthonys, St Malachys, St Josephs, St Conleths, St Patricks Road and St Gerards Road.
