MOTION NO. 15

MOTION: Councillor C. King

That this Committee calls on the Manager to seriously investigate the possibility of funding some form of traffic calming or realignment of the roundabout in Deselby Estate before someone is killed as numerous serious accidents have occurred at this location.

REPORT:

A large portion of De Selby Estate is not in the charge of the Council and the Council can only address traffic management issues on public roads. The Council is, however working with the developers to take the estate in charge as soon as possible.  In the meantime the Council is examining options that may be available to it, within the limited resources available, to implement some speed reduction measures on those roads which are in charge and are examining possible future modifications adjacent to the roundabout, where most traffic interactions occur. Any future modification will require funding for which a funding source has yet to be identified.
