QUESTION NO. 12
QUESTION: Councillor E. Coburn
"To ask the Manager to review the M50 Knocklyon/Firhouse junction light sequence and road markings as there is significant congestion at this point with traffic flow and lanes being blocked by motorists?"
REPLY:
The peak time congestion currently being experienced is related to the works on the Firhouse Ballycullen QBC scheme at the St. Colmcilles Way / Ballycullen Road Junction. The Contractor for the QBC scheme has indicated that he expects to change the junction from a roundabout layout to the new signalised junction layout shortly and his programme anticpates a changeover date of Monday 13th September 2010 subject to the permanent power supply being provided by the ESB. This changeover will noticeably reduce the congestion at the junction and further improvements will arise when the traffic signals are fully validated.
