QUESTION NO. 6
QUESTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
"To ask the Manager to have the unfinished landscaping on the green area around the football pitch at Whitechurch estate completed as was promised to the residents. The area is full of small stones and wild grass and is a disgrace. The parking bay opposite house 16 Whitechurch Way has rubble and soil and needs to be cleaned up?"
REPLY:
The landscaping of the green area in Whitechurch was completed last September 2009. The main contractor was responsible to maintain the condition of the grassed areas during the defects liability period of one year from completion. However, the main contractor has since gone into liquidation and therefore has not completed his obligation to maintain the grassed areas.
A comprehensive list of all outstanding works and defects requiring completion is being finalised with a view to arranging for the appointment of another contractor to carry out these works and complete the scheme within the coming months. This includes the completion of the grassed area which will then be handed over to the Council's Parks Department for maintenance.
The rubble and soil in the parking bay opposite 16 Whitechurch Way has now been removed.
