"That this Committee discuss (with the aid of a report) the conservation of Loreto Abbey Rathfarnham - slates recently removed or blown from roof; To ascertain how SDCC can ensure that this beautiful building is prevented from/not allowed to deteoriate any further taking into consideration the NAMA process may continue for some considerable time."
REPORT:
Last October an extensive inspection of all the structures in the Loreto Abbey school and convent complex was carried out which established that the buildings, apart from some minor matters, were generally in a good state of repair and adequate measures for their maintenance were in place.
The company which owns the complex, Lozeto Ltd., is now in receivership and liquidation, and the liquidator has been contacted with a view to arranging another extensive inspection, and also to ascertain in so far as is possible, what is likely to happen to the structures.
It should also be noted that there is a bond in force until 6th December 2013 to secure the satisfactory maintenance of the structures.
