The Council will continue to work closely with the Balgaddy Working Together Group on a regular basis and is liaising with the newly formed Environmental Group in relation to their environmental issues.

McUILLIAM

The County Architect has also prepared a Master Plan for the development of the open spaces at Macuilliam Estate as part of the Mayors Initiative for the improvement of this new housing complex.

A report on the Part 8 process for these works is being presented to this meeting under Headed item 9.

The cost of the works will be financed from monies recently secured from The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government on the basis that community facilities which were to be provided on completion of all phases of housing in Fortunestown were negatively impacted by the current economic slow down.

The Mayor convened a number of successful meetings in Macuilliam Estate earlier this year following which a number of environmental projects were successfully undertaken such as the execution of landscaping works, the provision of railings, the carrying out of estate cleanups and the holding of a soccer tournament to coincide with the world cup which drew on the diversity of nationalities resident in Macuilliam.
