QUESTION NO. 12
QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon
To ask the Manager to confirm that it is Council policy (and practice) to provide litter bins at all bus stops?
REPLY:
The Council's policy on provision and replacement of litter bins is as follows: requests for additional litter bins are examined by the Cleansing Engineer based on reports from the local Litter Warden and the Cleansing Inspector having regard for footfall and litter arising in the area, proximity to litter generators (e.g. shops, schools etc.), as well as route capacity, staffing and litter bin coverage in the area. Where bins are damaged or otherwise unsuitable for continued use they are removed and listed for replacement. While litter bins are provided at several main bus stops it is neither policy nor practice to provide them at all bus stops.
