QUESTION: Councillor C. King

"To ask the Manager to provide a monthly report on vacant houses in the Tallaght Area as a headed item?"

REPLY:

In light of the scarce staff resources available in the Housing Department is would be very onerous to provide such a report on a monthly basis.  It is suggested that the resources could be better utilised as well as providing same as part of the quarterly Anti Social Statistics report.

For the Member's information, there were 87 units vacant at the end of May in the Tallaght area. 10 of these units have since been allocated but a further 8 have been surrendered and returned to stock.  Of the remaining vacant units only 33 relate to pre 2010 and pre-let repairs have commenced on the majority of these.  It is intended that all pre- 2010 will be available for letting by the end of July.
