COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, June 08, 2010
MOTION NO. 14
MOTION: Councillor P. Cosgrave
Cathaoirleach's Business
"That the Manager arrange works to lower the river bed of the Owendoher River at Woodview cottages and raise both river banks close to Woodview cottages. This area is prone to flooding, and now would be an opportune time to carry out preventive flooding works."
REPORT:
There is no history of flooding at the Woodview Cottages in Rathfarnham beside the Owendoher River. The Council's records only note localised ponding due to gulleys needing cleaning out. The flood risk maps produced for the Dodder River and its tributaries including the Owendoher by the OPW under the Dodder River CFRAMS (Catchment Flood Risk Assessment and Management Study) Programme do not indicate that this area is at risk of flooding even from a one in a hundred year storm.
