MOTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"That this Committee agrees that a Community Garden be established at the rear of the homes in Willbrook Park."

REPORT:

The following reply was provided to the April 2010 Rathfarnham Area Committee:

“As community gardens are of relatively recent provenance in an Irish context, the Council is exploring the possible structures, legal issues and practicalities under which the concept can be advanced in general in the South Dublin County Council's administrative area and will arrange a meeting in the near future with the residents of Willbrook Park to discuss the proposal and to establish the level of interest and commitment to the concept of a community garden in the area”.

Due to recent staff movements in the Parks and Landscape Services Department it has not been possible to advance this proposal.  However, it is intended to make contact as soon as possible with the interested parties and the Elected Members will be kept informed of progress in the matter.
