QUESTION NO. 3
QUESTION: Councillor S. Crowe
To ask the Manager can he confirm that there is a delay in the Council Medical officer adjudicating on medical evidence and will he outline what is causing the delay and how many cases are awaiting inspection?
REPLY:
The Council's Medical Officer's advice is sought on various applications for South Dublin County Council, namely Overall Housing Priority , Priority Transfer to alternative accommodation, Traveller Accommodation Unit and Housing Grants. The Medical Officer attends the Council on an agreed regular basis and in the event of a backlog developing extra meetings are requested .
Currently there are 113 applications requesting priority housing on medical grounds and 81 applications requesting priority transfer on medical grounds on hand. The Medical Officer has been requested to facilitate the Council with additional sittings to eradicate the backlog. Therefore it is not anticipated that the backlog will continue to be an issue .
