QUESTION NO. 8
QUESTION: Councillor D. Looney
"To ask the Manager to arrange for a cleanup of the debris in the green space surrounded by Dangan Park, Kimmage, and to make a statement on the illegal dumping at the site which has occurred on a number of occasions in recent years, most recently in the last few weeks, including any attempts to bring to justice those responsible for these actions?"
REPLY:
The green space at Dangan park has recently been cleaned by the Parks Department following inspection and referral by the local Litter Warden. Regrettably, on this and other occasions where there has been some material left at this location, there has not been sufficient evidence found at the scene to support either a fine or a prosecution under the Litter Pollution Act, 1997, as amended. Where this is the case, no action can be taken unless local residents who may have witnessed the dumping can identify perpetrators and are willing to attend Court if necessary.
