QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

To ask the Manager to give details of progress in respect of improvements/enhancements to McUlliam Estate, indicating the plans for provision of games facilities and development of green open space for recreation?

REPLY:

In relation to the development land in Macuilliam Estate, a corner of this site is being developed for a play space.  The Council's Parks department is in the process of drawing up tender documents at present  for a Multi Use Games Area (MUGA) on the site.

The Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government have provided funding within the Social Housing Investment Programme 2010 to enable landscaping works and a play area to be provided on the undeveloped portion of the overall housing masterplan area in Fortunestown. These works when completed will greatly enhance the public realm for the substantial community now housed in the completed phases of the Fortunestown scheme. Documentation is currently being prepared for Part 8 public notification and for tender purposes. Initial site preparation work will commence over the summer months.
