By the ‘Dublin Region Water Supply Project’ or Dublin City Water Supply Scheme (Long Term Water Source) which is being advanced by Dublin City Council as lead authority on behalf of the local authorities in the Greater Dublin Area.  Phase 1 of this scheme is included in the Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2012 as a scheme approved for planning .  A detailed account of progress of this scheme was given at the March Council Meeting.  It is hoped to complete the planning phase up to submission of plans to An Bord Pleannala during the lifetime of the current Investment Programme.

The Eastern River Basin District Plan has been adopted by the twelve local authorities and it is submitted to the EPA for their assessment. The Plan has to be submitted to the EU by the Minister for the Environment, Local Government and Heritage by 7th July 2010. It is still premature to discuss programme of works until the Plan is approved by the EU and as such this is not included in the 2010-2012 WSIP.

The only flood mitigation works in the programme is the Tobermaclugg Stream Upgrade which is due to be completed by the summer of 2010.
