COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE
Tuesday, April 13, 2010
MOTION NO. 10
MOTION: Councillor C. Keane
"That this Committee agrees that a road sign policy be drawn up for residential areas to ensure that signs such as the recent one proposed for Butterfield Avenue are not inflicted on Residents right outside their front door. Furthermore that this Committee agrees that the proposed sign on Butterfield Avenue is not erected until type and size is agreed by this Committee/Council."
REPORT:
A description of the criteria for the placement of direction signs on public roads in South Dublin County Council has been brought to the members under Headed Item 8. As direction signs are an integral part of the road infrastructure, provision of signs shall be in accordance with the Traffic Signs Manual. Where private residences are to be considered every effort will be made to relocate (as far as is permitted under the manual) or reduce any impact of the sign on any residence. In such case an objective assessment will be made to locate the sign in the most appropriate position.
