APPLICATION FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE CAPITAL ASSISTANCE SCHEME FROM CLANMIL IRELAND IN ACCORDANCE WITH SECTION 6 OF THE HOUSING (MISCELLANEOUS PROVISIONS) ACT, 1992 FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SHELTERED HOUSING DEVELOPMENT AT VALHALLA, WATERY LANE, CLONDALKIN, DUBLIN 22

REPORT:
An application has been received from Clanmil Ireland for a grant in the sum of €3,152,050.86 under the Capital Assistance Scheme in respect of an integrated sheltered housing project of 10 no. dwelling units and 1 no. office/staff unit at Watery Lane, Clondalkin, Dublin 22. The Association is an approved Voluntary Body under Section 5 of the Housing Act, 1988.
At it's meeting held on 9th July 2007, the Council approved the report on the Public Notification Procedure under Part 8 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 - 2003 that the proposed development proceed with noted amendments.
Under Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 the granting of assistance under the Capital Assistance Scheme is a reserved function of the Council and is subject to the approval of the Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
Accordingly, the following motion is required:
"That this Council recommends that the application for a grant in the sum of €3,152,050.86 under the Capital Asistance Scheme to Clanmil Ireland for the construction of 10 no. dwelling units and 1 no. office/staff unit at Watery Lane, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 in accordance with the requirements of Section 6 of the Housing (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1992 be approved."
