MOTION NO.3
MOTION: Councillor C. King
That this Committee calls on the Manager to arrange for the removal of hedges along the N81 adjacent to Kiltalown Park with a view to the safety of pedestrians using the park being improved.
REPORT:
The existing hedges situated along the bounday of Kiltalown Park and the N81 are generally quite low. However in some areas the boundary hedging has become overgrown and arrangements will be made to have these sections of hedgerow cut back as soon as possible. Any works undertaken will be subject to Section 40 of the Wildlife Act 1976, as amended by Section 46 of the Wildlife (Amendment) Act 2000 which places restrictions on the cutting and /or removal of hedgerows in the period 1st March to 31st August each year. It is not proposed to remove the hedges in the Park in the interest of habitat protection.
