MOTION NO. 11

MOTION: Councillor D. Looney

That this Committee is appalled by the vandalism in the open space near the junction of Tamarisk Drive and Treepark Road in Kilnamanagh. That this Committee urges the replacement of the wall along the M50 slipway and the use of a stud wall or other measure to stop the smashing of the wall with large wooden spools, as has occurred on a number of previous occasions.

REPORT:

It is regretable that the location referred to in the motion continues to be the site of serious anti social behaviour and that damage to public property in this area continues. There is unfortunately a history of damage to this boundary wall which is a vital safety feature especially for smaller children from the area. Arrangements are being made to have the vandalised sections of wall repaired and to use a stronger method of construction when the sectionsa re being replaced.

If any confidential information as to the identiity of the persons responsible for the damage can be made available to the Council it would be a significant step to preventing further acts of vandalism in the area.
