MOTION NO. 9

MOTION: Councillor S. Crowe

Cathaoirleach's Business.

That this Council Committte calls on the Manager in view of previous difficulties with the road layout at the roadway near the junction of the M50 and Ballycullen Road to give a report updating this Committee and its Councillors on state of the present roadworks layout and when the works involved will be resolved.

REPORT:

The area referred to in the motion forms part of 2 road schemes, the M50 PPP Upgrade Scheme and the Ballycullen/Firhouse QBC Scheme.  Works on the M50 upgrade scheme at this location are scheduled for completion in the coming weeks. Ballycullen Road and its junction with Killininny Road is being modified as part of the QBC scheme. The works involve the provision of a bus corridor on the Ballycullen Road as far as  Firhouse Road.  Currently only one side of the road is being worked on but work will commence on the other side shortly. It is intended to have a footpath open at all times on one side. The works at the Junction will be completed by next September.
