TRANSPORTATION STRATEGIC POLICY COMMITTEE
Report of meeting of Transportation SPC held on 11th February 2010
1. Welcome from Chairperson
The Chairperson of the Transportation Strategic Policy Committee, Councillor Derek Keating, welcomed each of the Members of the SPC to the first meeting of the new Committee. Councillor Keating also welcomed the Director, Mr. Jim Walsh and his Management Team to the meeting.
2. Introduction
The Chairman asked each Member of the SPC to introduce themselves and to give a brief summary of the issues that were of particular strategic importance to them. The Chairman also asked the Director to give a brief introduction and for each of the Officials to introduce themselves and their areas of responsibility.
3. Transportation Issues
Mr. P. Murphy gave a wide ranging presentation on current issues in the Roads and Transportation Department and summarised the position on a number of key transport related strategic projects from a South Dublin perspective.
Mr. Murphy also outlined for the benefit of the Committee Members the extensive work programme undertaken by the previous Strategic Policy Committee.
It was AGREED following contributions from all the Members present that they would submit a list of the policy areas that they wished to be considered, in priority order, to the Director who following consultation with the Chairperson, would present a programme to the next SPC meeting for the agreement of the Members.
4. Mobility Management
Mr P. Murphy summarised the position in relation to mobility management in the County and some of the initiatives that had been taken by the Council in the last number of years. He also gave details of the results of the recent staff survey and highlighted a number of objectives and aims that would form the core of the next 3 year Mobility Management Plan.
