SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL

QUESTION NO. 1
QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart
"To ask the Manager if any budget has been set aside for art/sculpture in the context of the refurbishment of Ballyroan Community Centre?"
REPLY:
South Dublin County Council commissions artwork as part of capital construction projects that are funded by central government departments through the Per Cent for Art Scheme. The scheme allows 1% of the cost of the project, up to a maximum of €64,000, to be spent on artwork. The refurbishment of Ballyroan Community Centre is being fully funded by South Dublin County Council and is not eligible for the Per Cent for Art Scheme.
However the Council has been pursuing approval to progress the Library project which would qualify under the scheme and art/sculpture in that area could be included as part of this.
