QUESTION: Councillor J. Lahart

"To ask the Manager for a report on the provision of domestic water metering?"

REPLY:

South Dublin County Council has not received any correspondence or directives from the Department of Environment, Heritage and Local Government on the subject of the provision of domestic metering.

A Report on a motion passed by the Council on the matter to the November Council Meeting gives an indication of the factors involved though the recent remarks from the Minister indicate that a number of other factors will need to be considered such as meter rental, free allowances etc.

It is understood that a scheme is being developed/considered at the moment and that notification will issue from the Department later this year.
